Gibson Les Paul 58 VOS Custom Shop Iced Tea. This is a 2009 year model guitar that I purchased brand new a few months ago from the Music Zoo. These Custom Shop guitars from Gibson are a cut above. The craftsmanship on these re-issue guitars are second to none. This particular guitar is a re-issue of a 1958 Les Paul Standard. This guitar features the VOS aged hardware and finish.
Not long after I had the guitar, I purchased a set of Dunlop flush-mount Strap Locks and had them installed on the guitar. These work great and really give the guitar a sleek look. Also I purchased a set of aged Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuning machines that were aged by Larry Corsa from CV Guitars to match the VOS hardware that came equipped on the guitar. I then replaced the stock Burstbucker pickups with a smokin' set of Dimarzio D Activator Pickups. These pickups give this guitar a vintage hot rodded vibe and tone.
One thing this guitar has that most 58 re-issues don't, is a not so "Plain Top". That was one thing that was appealing about this guitar for me initially, was the character in the wood grain, that really separates it from the other 58 re-issues.
I tried to capture any imperfections on the guitar in the pics. One is a small scratch that was professionally repaired around the neck pickup volume knob. One is a ding on the back edge of the headstock. And the only other I could find was around the Strap Lock near the neck.
This guitar is in great shape and plays like a dream. I'm suffering from gear overload, so I'm trying to move some things to make more room. This guitar comes with original Gibson hardshell case, paperwork, manuals, hang tags, and certificate of authenticity. Not included: stock Burstbucker pickups and stock pearloid tuning machines
